Adliya Rotary Club concludes Rotary Award for Youth Leadership 2021

Manama, Mar. 3 (BNA): In cooperation with the Rotaract Bahrain, the Rotary Club of Adliya launched the closing ceremony of the third edition of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) for 2021 on Saturday 27th February, 2021. The ceremony was held virtually under the patronage of the District Governor 2452, Mr Mazen Alumran. The occasion was attended by 40 male and female students and many Rotarians from within and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain that participated in the award and was held virtually from 25 to 27 February 2021.

At the gathering, the first of its kind in the history of the Rotary Clubs in Bahrain, Mr Holger Knaack, President, Rotary International, 2020-21 delivered the keynote speech at the closing ceremony in which he emphasised the importance of the objectives adopted by the award, which is an integrated cultural and educational program for developing leadership in the young generation and polishing their skills so that they become leaders of the future within their social fabric, work environments and daily lives.

Mr Holger went deep into the award’s history throughout the world and the extent to which a large segment of university students has benefited from its vision and mission as well as its remarkable contributions to preparing an ambitious generation of enthusiastic youth who are eager to bring about sought-after change for the benefit of various communities.

Mr Holger praised the Rotary Club of Adliya and the Rotaract Bahrain for the organisation of the award, as well as the distinguished effort exerted in promoting this type of objective program among the youth. He expressed his gratitude for Rotarian District 2425’s interest in the award. He also spoke highly about the content of the award program’s activities and the topics and discussion materials presented at the interactive workshops.

In his part, Dr Mohammed Mubarak Bin Daina, the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and CEO of the Supreme Council for Environment, highlighted the crucial role of the youth in achieving sustainable development goals that aim to put an end to poverty, protect the earth and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030 by striking a balance of social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

During his participation, Dr Bin Daina reviewed the most prominent features of the 17 global goals and the extent of their integration in transforming the lives of millions of people, if fully achieved, for the better, with the need to provide every country and society around the world with elements of creativity, knowledge, technology, and financial resources to achieve these targets.

Addressing the audience, the Governor of Rotary District 2425, Mr Mazen Alumran, congratulated the students for their active participation in the award program in this third edition, which, for three consecutive days, dealt with teaching the young participants how to build communication skills and dissolve disputes as well as discover and follow effective methods of becoming distinguished leaders in their universities and societies.

Mr Alumran pointed out that the program, in its third edition, creates a golden opportunity for participants to learn from community leaders, inspiring persons and experts and work with them to demonstrate and activate latent leadership potential as well as create an environment of friendly interaction between young undergraduates and build lasting friendships among them.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and members of the Rotary Club of Adliya, Dr Khaled Tabbara, President of the Club, delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness for the success of the RYLA 2021 through the achievement of its objectives. He expressed his gratitude to the president of Rotary International, the sponsor of the program; District Governor 2452, the keynote speaker; Rotaract Bahrain; the students; the Organizing Committee and FinMark for their sponsorship of the media coverage and all those who participated in the program to ensure its success.

A female student participating in the program delivered a speech on behalf of the participating students. She spoke about the advantage they gained from the activities and courses of the program in its third edition. She appreciated the effort and cooperation of the organisers, because of which the participants benefited tremendously from the workshops and interactive sessions with the most prominent assistants and connection with a distinguished group of speakers and dignitaries of international Rotarians with whom they exchanged ideas.

Regarding the outputs of the third edition of the program, Mr. Sanket Kothari, President of Rotaract Bahrain, expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club of Adliya for providing the Rotaract Bahrain with the opportunity to participate in organising the third edition, what the club members gained from this valuable program with its support of projects within the Rotarian district and their constructive cooperation.

In his part, Dr Ali Hasan Follad, Past President Rotary Club of Adliya, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of RYLA 2021, expressed his gratitude to the participating speakers, headed by the president of Rotary International, Governor of Rotary District 2425, President of the Rotary Club of Adliya and President of the Bahrain Retarget Club.

Dr Follad also expressed his gratitude to the participating universities students and facilitators from the Rotary Club of Adliya and Rotaract Bahrain. He also thanked the Organizing Committee and the Rotary friends who played a significant role in the success of the award this year with virtual meetings held from August 2020.

Dr Follad announced the start of the preparation for the fourth edition of RYLA in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Adliya and Rotaract Bahrain. A large number of university students from within and outside Bahrain will participate in the proposed next RYLA. Dr Follad also announced the launch of a community service project on World Earth Day, in which the awarded students will participate, in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Adliya, Rotaract Bahrain and Supreme Council for the Environment.
